LED Test Solution

1.Using camera to catch LED image of DUTs to capture multiple LED to analyze. 2.It obtains RGB value of each LED area which could be used to measure the color luminance of each pixel. Then it takes the average of the values higher than threshold, 3.Comparing the average value with the standard range of color luminance of each area. Devices will be considered QC-passed when all the area are passed.

HVS color model

Each color is structured by Hue(H), Saturation(S) and Value(V). Color model corresponds to a conical subset in coordinate. The top surface of cone corresponds to V=1. Hue(H) is given by the degree of rotation angle considering V as axis. Red corresponds to 0°, green corresponds to 120°, blue corresponds to 240°. Saturation(S) is valued from 0 to 1. At the vertex of cone, V=0, H and S are not defined, which means black. At the center of cone’s top surface S=0, V=1, H is not defined, which means white. From the point to vertex of cone represents increasingly dark grey. S=0 and value of H is not defined among those points.

1.Since the brightness of LED of well-encased remote controller is relatively low, it must be tested in black box to avoid affection from other light.

2.It is a must that there is a fixture to hold camera, PCBA of remote controller and the remote controller itself to make sure the relative position of each part is fixed in order to stabilize the outcome of test.

3.Now WNC and ALPHA have adopted this test method.
